Italy will be hosting the next Universal Exposition in Milan and is working to make this edition of the EXPO not only an exibition event, but a moment of partecipation for all the subjects involved as well.
The chosen theme for EXPO Milan 2015 is extremely serious and significant, and a true global challenge: “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life“. Food in the foreground and e everything which is related to feeding, with its dramatic consequences, but also with the lightness and pleasure that food implies. Key questions for our future, but entertainment, health and fun as well. Sustainability, possible resources , ecology, traditions and food education, a great opportunity for the international community to dialogue and debate some of the most crucial issues of the future of humanity.
But in practice, what will the Universal Exposition offer to visitors and tourists?
At first the exhibition site of Expo Milano 2015: a project committed to a group of designers supported by the most famous international architects, such as Stefano Boeri, Ricky Burdett and Jacques Herzog. An area of about 1 million square meters that develops around a Cardo and a Decuman, to recall the primary structure of the Roman city, with a rich landscape of green spaces and surrounded by water.
This innovative exhibition does not follow the geographical criteria of pavilions divided by country, but with the so-called “Clusters” it will develop identity issues and food chains: shared spaces, areas inviting to dialogue and interaction between the exhibitors of the different countries.
Five Thematic Areas, articulated in exhibition routes directly involving visitors. Food history, food and the future, food and children, food and environment, food and art are the themes whose development has been entrusted to famous curators of international reputation: Germano Celant , Emilio Genovesi, Carlo Ratti with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , David Rampello or Sabina Chanterelle.
The city of Verona is also involved and will attend the Expo with a pavilion dedicated to the worldwide famous Vinitaly. In Verona a big exhibition dedicated to Art and Wine” will be held at the Palazzo della Gran Guardia and lot of side events will complete the offer.
Verona lies at about 1,30 hour by train from Milan and IL GHIRO B&B in Verona is a convenient accomodation in town at just a few minutes walking from the railway station.
