Ryanair back to Verona: this is a good news. The return of the famous low-cost air company to the Valerio Catullo Airport of Verona from April 1st 2015 is officially confirmed with two new flights: a daily connection with Palermo and a four times a week flight from/to Brussels-Zaventem. It was originally supposed to start in autumn 2015 but Ryanair anticipate the opening of the new cooperation with the Airport of Verona in oder to include the summer season.
The agreement between the Airport of Verona and Ryanair provides that the winter program will add new links not only to and from Verona, but also to and from the airport of Brescia-Montichiari. The new routes are not yet known, but the two parners confirmed they are working to define the program. According to the sales and marketing manager of Ryanair, John Alborante, the company expects to carry 175 thousand passengers a year to and from the airport of Verona – out of a total of passengers in Italy that Ryanair expected to reach 26 million.
The agreement put an end to a dispute between the company and the Airport of Verona, which lasts from October 2012, when Ryanair suspended the flights. It is part of the relaunch and development program of the Verona Valerio Catullo Airport, that will increase flights to European hubs – like Bruxelles-Zavantem, with the aim of recovering the passengers lost in the last years and reaching the target of 4 million passengers a year in the medium term.
The Airport Valerio Catullo of Verona is located just 7 km from the city center and is well connected with the railway station of Verona Porta Nuova by airport shuttles running every 20 minutes from and to.
